Leading Instruction strengthens your mastery of excellent, standards-aligned teaching that puts students on a path to success. It prepares you to support your colleagues and to take on expanded instructional leadership responsibilities in your current role, and can be a stepping-stone for further advancement.

New Leaders’ professional development programs are provided tuition-free to participants through support from district, charter, and philanthropic partners. Modest materials fees may apply.

  • One-week summer induction
  • Seven group training sessions
  • Regular on-site expert coaching


  • Three years of teaching or instructional experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be employed at the time of application in a school-based position in New York City Public Schools, Richmond or Dougherty Counties, GA, or Oakland or West Contra Costa, CA
  • School-based position must have access to a consistent group of students for whom they are responsible for their learning
